You submit a general inquiry via “Contact Us”, or book a Free Phone or Zoom Consultation with us.
Based on our discussion, we make a recommendation on how to take the next step(s) with us. That may be one of the following:
- Meeting in-person on-site
- Perform a detailed feasibility study and providing you with a report
- Entering directly into a contract for the design, engineering, and permitting scope of the project

Embarking on your design journey with us is a seamless process, designed to bring your vision to life:

- Vision Alignment Meeting: Upon engaging us with a design agreement, we kick off by organizing a design-criteria meeting. Whether in person or via Zoom, this ensures that our vision aligns perfectly with yours.
- Conceptual Planning: We begin crafting conceptual floor plans and site layouts tailored to your needs. No property survey? No problem! We’ll gladly assist you in obtaining one.
- Conceptual Plans Delivery: Once completed, we promptly deliver the Conceptual Plans to you via email. Your input matters; feel free to approve them, request revisions, or schedule a discussion with your dedicated design lead.
- Electrical Layout Development: Next, we delve into developing an electrical layout plan, highlighting light fixtures, switches, outlets, and more. This plan is provided alongside any revised floor plans.
- Material Specifications: Your preferences matter. Upon your approval or feedback on the electrical layout plan, we curate a custom materials specifications Google Sheet. We then schedule a Zoom meeting to review the sheet together and assist you in making selections tailored to your project.
- Exterior Elevation Drafting: Visualizing your dream home is crucial. We proceed by drafting exterior elevation plans, offering you side perspectives of the structure for your review and approval.
- Finalization: Your satisfaction is our priority. Upon receiving your feedback, we meticulously finalize the plans, incorporating detailed cabinet elevations, roof plans, plumbing layouts, and a completed site plan.
- Documentation Gathering: We leave no stone unturned. Gathering all necessary documentation and plans from our trusted engineering partners, such as septic, geo-tech, and civil engineering plans, ensures a smooth process.
- Permit File and Construction Documents: With everything in place, we diligently complete the Permit File and Construction Documents, ensuring compliance and readiness for the next phase.
- Contract Presentation: Transparency is key. Small House Solutions presents you with a comprehensive Hard-Cost Contract for E-Signature. This detailed contract includes pricing, a draw schedule, contract terms, the Material Specification Sheet in PDF format, and all plans.
- Allowance Establishment: Your peace of mind matters. In the event that not all material selections are finalized by contract time, we establish line-item allowances for each selection, ensuring clarity and transparency.
- Finalization and Payment: Throughout the process, we strive for alignment and transparency. Any difference beyond these allowances is addressed through change orders or credited toward your final payment, ensuring a seamless and satisfying experience from start to finish.
